Turkish Contractors Association hosted the representatives of European Construction Industry Federation (FIEC), the top umbrella institution of European construction industry, in Istanbul.
With changes in the regulations passed at the General Assembly Meeting, Turkey also became a permanent member, a position previously possessed by only Germany, France and Italy, in the FIEC management.
Emre Aykar, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Yapı Merkezi and Vice Chairman of Turkish Contractors Association, was elected as Vice Chairman and Executive Committee of the FIEC. Emre Aykar, having stated that they struggled 7-8 years to have this right, said "Now Turkey gets what it deserved. We will be informed of all works carried out in the world and in Europe easier and faster. We will shape up our efforts accordingly".
Additionally, Luisa Todini, Chairman of the European Construction Industry Federation, indicated that partnerships with Turkish contractors should continue in order to maintain the growth of European construction industry and said “Turkish contractors are very good in terms of quality, price, timing and working terms. Turkish contractors will become a model for our Federation”.

FIEC, established in 1905 with its headquarters in Brussels, represents 33 member associations from 29 countries, including 25 European Union countries and 2 European Free Trade Association (EFTA) countries as well as Croatia and Turkey. Mission of FIEC, of which Turkish Contractors Association has also been a member since 2000, is defined as to conduct relevant works before the European Commission and perform a task of a spokesperson for the industry in order to ensure to provide the conditions that will meet the requirements of the European construction industry.
