The First Phase Came Into Service

The first phase ‘Karabük-Zonguldak’ of the Irmak-Karabük-Zonguldak Railway Rehabilitation and Signalization Project was completed and came into service in a ceremony at Karabük Station on 26 April, 2016.

Minister of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications Binali Yıldırım, Member of Parliament in Karabük Mehmet Ali Şahin, Head of Economic and Social Development Section of the EU Delegation to Turkey Francois Begeot, General Manager of Turkish State Railways İsa Apaydın and Turkish Press attended the ceremony in Karabük. Chairman of YM Construction Başar Arıoğlu, Vice Chairman Erdem Arıoğlu, General Manager Özge Arıoğlu, Project Manager Mehmet Başer and project team also attended.

The ceremony opened by the folk dance and continued with the anthems of European Union and Turkey. After protocol speeches, the train started its journey to Zonguldak for the first time. Minister Yıldırım and all attendees made stopover to meet the local people at Gökçebey, Çaycuma and Filyos stations.

A second ceremony was held at Zonguldak Station. Vice Chairman of YM Construction Erdem Arıoğlu and Project Manager Mehmet Başer gave a memorial plaque to Minister Binali Yıldırım
