Yapı Merkezi, that has left its mark on the world's longest mid-span suspension bridge with 1915 Çanakkale Bridge, has now signed the longest railway work of a Turkish company in the world, by undertaking the construction of a new phase of the longest railway of Africa. Yapı Merkezi, that has been awarded the construction work of the third phase of the project last December based on its meticulous business approach and work quality in the first and second phases of the Tanzania Dar es Salaam - Mwanza Railway line, has also undertaken the works of the 4th phase of the same project in a short time, just 7 months later. Yapı Merkezi plans to complete this project with an amount of 900 million dollars in 42 months. In addition to all infrastructure works in the turnkey single-track railway project in Tanzania, Yapı Merkezi has undertaken all the works of construction of a total of 3 stations between the cities of Tabora and Isaka, maintenance workshop and depot area, Railway Institute, construction of 165-km-long single track railway with side tracks, signaling, telecommunications and electrification works.

Signing ceremony held in Dar es Salaam on 4 July 2022 for the works of 4th phase of the railway line from Tabora to Isaka in Tanzania, has been held with the participation of Samia Suluhu Hassan, President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Amb.Hussein Kattanga ,Chief Secretary, Prof. Makame Mbarawa, Minister for Works and Transport, Hon.Mussa Azzan Zungu, Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of Tanzania, Lieutenant General Yacoub Mohamed, Ambassador of Tanzania to Ankara, Prof. John W. Kondoro, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Tanzania Railways Corporation, Masanja Kadogosa, Director General of Tanzania Railways Corporation and Aslan Uzun, CEO of Yapı Merkezi Holding.
The project, which is the 4th phase of the railway with a total length of 1,211 km that will connect Dar es Salaam and Mwanza when completed, has key importance also for the Tabora – Kigoma railway line towards the Burundi border, included in the investment program of Tanzania Railways (TRC).
